The Great Baddow Charity Race is now in its 24th year, and since it was first run the event has become a firm favourite in the sporting calendar of Chelmsford, and particularly Great Baddow. For the last 13 years the event has been organised by the Rotary Club of Chelmsford Mildmay, after the Club was asked for help in organising the Races by the instigator of the Races who had been organising the event on his own. As a means of service in the community, and as a way of raising funds for local charities, the Rotary Club was delighted to be able to assist. Held each year on a Sunday in the middle of May, there is a 10 mile road race for the serious runner, and a 2 mile fun run for all to join in. The 10 mile race is run under the regulations of UK Athletics/BARR, and over the years the event has grown in stature and become an established event in the road running calendar. We are especially pleased that, this year, we have again been awarded a Gold Status for the event. This year the course has been slightly altered, re-measured and the distance certified as accurate, and also new for this year, is computerised 'chip timing' for all 10 mile runners.
Next year (2009) the . he 2 mile Fun Run will start at about 11.10 am |
